BLUE BALLS WITH POINT FORTIN HIGHWAY

Too much teasing can lead to repeated episodes of “Blue Balls” which can become frustrating and to some extent painful.
This, especially when a man knows the access he needs is right there and readily available, but just can’t enjoy it, because the person(s) in charge, just keeps blocking him and saying NO.

This scenario I liken to the relationship between Point/ Sando commuters and the segment of the
Solomon Hochoy Highway extension, linking Grant’ Trace to Vance River.

MP for Point Fortin
Kennedy Richards Jr.

Many of us commuting from deep south who utilized this roadway, would have been delighted at the
reduction in time it takes to get to Oropuche/San Fernando, when we were teased on multiple
occasions, but especially during the Christmas holidays, when we had a few free days to enjoy access.

We all know the roadway is not open for public use, and we are using it at our own risk, but isn’t this the
same with the Petrotrin Field roads? Just asking. Not a Point for debate.

It’s speculated by many, the reason for the limited usage, is because of ongoing work or street lights not
being installed or some other political/financial reason.

Whatever the reason, commuters are being denied access to a vital link which can significantly ease time
spent commuting.

Everyday we see major ongoing roadworks taking place in diverse places but traffic is allowed to flow.
Therefore, I’m not convinced that ongoing roadwork is a justified reason.
I understand street lights are not erected and this presents a serious security issue.
Because of this, I see no reason why the roadway cannot be opened from 6am to 6pm to facilitate
daytime commuting, which many will be thankful for.
Just saying also, white lines can be painted in days.

Point Fortin Mayor,
Saleema Thomas

At least we can move past the “tease” and get some favorable “play” which will satisfy us until
everything is “opened up” for us to drive.

We will be openly seeking assistance from the Point Fortin Member of Parliament and Mayor to lobby
for us, or to give an update regarding why we cannot enjoy the use of this roadway.

Let’s move past the tease to enjoy our pleasure.
